Writing Tips for Authors

by R.F. Kristi

I have penned below the guidelines that have assisted me in writing the Inca Book Series.

  1. Read Voraciously

Read all genres, not only the genre you are writing about. Read every book you can get your hands on. Reading provides you with inspiration.

I once read Michael Moorcock’s advice on developing a story line, which I have repeatedly used to successful fruition. He advised: “Introduce your main characters and themes in the first third of your novel. If you are writing a plot-driven genre novel make sure all your major themes/plot elements are introduced in the first third, which you can call the introduction. Develop your themes and characters in your second third, the development. Resolve your themes, mysteries and so on in the final third, the resolution.”

  1. Allow the Creative Process Free Reign

Some pundits have said it is important to set a specific time to write and never to deviate from this schedule. However, this compartmentalization of my agenda has never http://buydiazepambest.com worked for me. I do however try to write every day when I am developing a story, but I can never stick to one specific time.

Sometimes, when thoughts are flowing freely, I can write for hours; at other times, not so. Hence, I have realized it is not necessary to stick to a rigorous timetable. When the creative process is in full active gear—allowing thoughts free reign—I let my ideas appear on the screen freely rather than restricting myself in any manner.

  1. Use a Laptop

Above all, my faithful companion when writing is my laptop. Without it, I would find writing extremely difficult. It makes the process easy to perform and gives me the necessary tools to accomplish it.

  1. Write with Passion

Write with passion on subjects you enjoy writing about and the creative juices will start to flow!

  1. Love What You Do

Write only if you enjoy doing so. If you do not cherish writing, find another occupation or pastime.
